In our previous meetings, I was too shy to say much, let alone ask for a photo. Lora convinced me it would be a good idea. This is the last time I've seen Guy live. It was a great show. Verlon expressed gratitude for the site, and was on the verge of starting his own site. I tried to explain my reasons for building the web site to Guy. I said something like, "if Townes had a web site where songs were emphasized, so should he". Guy said something like, "oh yeah, I've got a computer . . keeps my door open."
It became clear that the road is tough on these gentlemen and any pipedream I had of sitting around playing guitar were laid to rest. . . gently. I think when the show is over, they just want to go and relax somewhere. At every gig there's probably someone who knows them well enough to offer them just that. Or they just head to the next town or motel. What I'm saying is that I began to understand what it is like to be on the road. The last thing Guy wants to do it visit with strangers who seems to have too keen an interest in your work. Afterwards, a new but dear friend of mine, Dan, and I went and played guitars for a few hours. It was a great night of music for us. |
| As you may have guessed, I doctored the photos up just a tad. In the background was a set for a Christmas production, which seem to clash really bad with the whole idea of this photo. |
