Honey I Hardly Knew Ya, by Andy Hunt

Well it all started 15 years ago

In a small town deep in snow

You dropped out of school

And moved in with me

Four flights up a cold water flat

Before the TV we sat

Blissed out on sex and smack

And you were just a kid I guess

You scared me some and I confess

Before long you called the shots not me

Refrain: Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

And so then to fulfill the need

Devised a plan were we'd be freed

From the shoplifting and other petty crimes

One day with our arms raised

The people ran our guns ablaze

It looked just like it did on TV

And an armored car having just arrived

We took hme a handsome prize

And filled up our shopping bags an[d] pockets

Refrain: Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Well I wish then we'd just

Buried the cash and lived off

What we could find in the trash

And slept out beneath the stars

And grown our hair out so you could

Not tell if we were bad or good

And wait for the dust [to] settle

Refrain: Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Instead we went out on a spree

Bought a house in Missouri

And lived up there in the hills together

Yeah we lived up there like movie stars

And drove a great big shiny car

You had minks and pearls draped

All around you

And no one knew where we'd come from

Or much less that you carried a gun

Stuffed up inside your silken stockings

Refrain: Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Then one day the knock at the door

Their must have been a hundred or more

Camped out in the woods all around us

And just before the bullets flew

I took your hand and looked at you

I could tell you['d] rather die

Than go to prison

It was all I could do to help [my]self

To pull that holster off the shelf

And try and go out in a blaze of glory

Refrain: Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

No happy ending no Hollywood script

Could stop the blood coming from your lips

As I kissed you one more time before dying

And the newspaper[s] say we threw it all away

Just to be kind and queen for a day

But I do it all again if you were in it

Refrain: Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together

Oh honey I hardly knew ya, now we're in this together
